In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take!
Hey guys, One week after I came from Troy, Michigan I made my next weekend trip to Seattle. This time I went with the same girls I flew to Texas 2 months ago. The plan was spending two days in Seattle and drive down to Vancouver, Canada for one day. But the plans changed. If you wanna know what we made and why we were in the car for so many hours you should read this blogpost about this funny, crazy and great weekend.
Ok let's start at Friday. We left pretty early and flew to Seattle, Washington around 6am. Arrived in Seattle we got our car and drove to downtown. Our first point was the public market and the first starbucks world wide. We walked around there and the weather wasn't that good! Close to the market was the famous gum wall so we also went there and made some pictures. Afterwards we went to a Seattle postcard wall, which was similar to the one in Texas. Our next stop was the Kerry Park, where you have a great view over the city. The park was pretty small and its actually not a place to relax, just to take some pictures. Afterwards we drove to the Space needle and some of us went into a glass exhibition.
Then we went back to downtown and had dinner in the Cheesecake Factory.
Really tired we went to our couchsurfing were we stayed overnight. The woman was so kind and we had a good time there.
At Saturday morning we left early and drove to Vancouver. It was a 3 h ride and we had our breakfast in the car. We first stopped in downtown to have a nice view at the skyline. To be honest the skyline don't look that nice but the contrast between the skyline, the lake, the blue sky and the clouds was beautiful!
Around noon we drove to the capilano bridge in Vancouver. The entrance price was so expensive but we decided to go there and it was kinda worth it. We walked over a long bridge and looked down few meters. Afterwards we planned to drive to a beautiful place with a lake and mountains but unfortunately it was all closed or you have to walk for a few hours. We drove around for a long time and then with all these circumstances we decided to drive back to downtown Vancouver.
We bought some sweets for our couchsurfers this night. It was a german family and we sat together with them and talked about some things and then went to bed.
Sunday, what to do? We had two options. The first one was, staying in Vancouver during the day, try to catch new nice spots and then drive back to Seattle in the evening or the second one was driving back to Seattle in the morning and spending the day there. But actually we almost saw everything in Seattle we wanted to see so maybe this would be wasted time.
But then.... we had the crazy idea to drive down to Portland, Oregon. I mean we would have seen two countries, two states and like three different cities.
Good that we are all so spontaneous and decided to do this. So we got up really early and drove roughly 6 hours to Portland.
In Portland we first saw some cherry blossom and a little market. We made some pictures there and walked around.
Afterwards we walked up a bridge to see the Portland, Oregon sign. And close to it was the famous Voodoo Dougnut. We all really wanted to have one but there were so many people that we decided to leave bc we had limited time. Then we used the time to drive thru downtown and stopped at a souvenir shop. Around 4 pm we wanted to go to a Botanical Garden which looked so magically on the pictures but 5 minutes before we were there they closed it... What a bummer!
So we got ready and drove back to Seattle for 3 more hours.
Last but not least we went to a park in Seattle to see the skyline by night again. It was beautiful!
Then we brought the car back to the car rental and went to the airport. Around 1 pm I was back home after this stressful weekend.
About Portland I can say I don't know if it was worth it to drive 9 h at all to get there and back but i love to travel and to see new cities so it was nice that we saw so many different parts of the world in just one weekend!

Eine Woche nachdem ich von Troy, Michigan zurück war, habe ich meinen nächsten Wochenendtrip nach Seattle gemacht. Dieses Mal bin ich mit den Mädels unterwegs gewesen, mit denen ich auch in Texas war. Der Plan war 2 Tage in Seattle zu verbringen und einen in Vancouver, Canada. Die Pläne haben sich jedoch geändert. Es war jedoch ein sehr lustiges, verrücktes und tolles Wochenede in einem!
Freitags sind wir sehr früh morgens nach Seattle, Washington geflogen und haben unser Auto am Flughafen abgeholt. Wir sind nach Donwton gefahren und unser erster Stopp war der Public market und der erste Starbucks weltweit! Wir sind dort ein bisschen rumgelaufen und haben auch die in der Nähe liegende, berühmte Kaugummiwand gesehen! Wir haben ein paar Bilder gemacht und sind dann zu einer Postkarten Wand gefahren, die so ähnlich war wie die in Austin, Texas. Unser nächster Stopp war beim Kerry Park. Von dort aus hat man eine Klasse Aussicht auf die Skyline von Seattle und kann toller Bilder machen. Der Park ist jedoch sehr klein und nicht zum relaxen geeignet. Dannach haben wir uns noch das Space needle angeschaut und ein paar von uns sind zu einer Glas Ausstellung gegangen. Danach sind wir wieder nach downtown und hatten dinner in der Cheesecake Factory! Sehr müde sind wir dann zu unserer Couchsurferin gefahren, die sehr freundlich war!
Am Samstag morgen sind wir schon wieder sehr früh aufgestanden und haben uns auf den Weg nach Vancouver gemacht! Wir sind ungefähr 3 Stunden gefahren und hatten Frühstück im Auto! Zuerst hielten wir in downtown um eine coole Aussicht auf die Skyline zu haben! Die Gebäude sehen zwar nicht so schön aus, aber der Kontrast von dem Fluss, den Gebäuden und dem Himmel sah gut aus! Um ca. 12 Uhr sind wir zu der Capilano Brücke gefahren die in einem kleinen Park liegt. Die Eintrittspreise sind sehr hoch aber es hat sich eigentlich gelohnt! Wir sind über eine Brücke gelaufen, die viele Meter über einem Fluss gespannt ist. Danach hatten wir eigentlich geplant zu einem oder mehreren Seen zu fahren, die leider aber entweder geschlossen waren oder einen mehreren stündigen Fußweg forderten. Also sind wir wieder zurück nach fowntown Vancouver gefahren und haben in der Stadt noch etwas kleines Süßes für unsere heutigen Couchsurfer gekauft. Es war eine deutsche Familie mit denen wir uns noch etwas unterhalten haben bevor wir schlafen gegangen sind.
Sonntag, was zu tun? Wir hatten zwei Optionen. Die erste war: den Tag noch weiterhin in Vancouver zu verbringen und die zweite: wieder nach Seattle zu fahren und dort bis zum Abend verweilen.Aber ehrlich gesagt haben wir eigentlich alles was wir in Seattle sehen wollten, schon gesehen und deshalb wäre es eventuell verschwendete Zeit gewesen. Aber dann... hatten wir die verrückte Idee nach Portland, Oregon zu fahren um dort noch eine paar coole Spots zu sehen. Das würde heißen, wir haben zwei verschiedene Ländern, zwei verschiedene Staaten, beziehungsweiße drei verschiedene Städte an einem Wochenende gesehen. Gut das wir alle so spontan sind und uns dafür entschieden haben. Also sind wir den dritten Tag in Folge wieder sehr früh aufgestanden und ungefähr 6 Stunden nach Portland gefahren.
In Portland haben wir als erstes ein paar Cherry Blossoms und einen kleinen Markt gesehen. Wir haben ein paar Bilder gemacht und sind ein bisschen rumgelaufen. Danach sind wir auf eine Brücke hoch und haben das Portland, Oregon Schild gesehen. In der Nähe lag auch der berühmte Voodoo Donut Laden wo wir alle gerne etwas gegessen hätten, es leider aber eine zu lange Schlange war. Also haben wir unsere verbliebene Zeit genutzt und sind wieder nach downtown um noch in eigene Souvenir Shop zu springen. Um ca. 4 Uhr wollten wir zu letzt noch in einen märchenhaften botanischen Garten, der aber leider 5 Minuten bevor wir ankamen schon geschlossen hatte. Also haben wir uns fertig gemacht und sind wieder zurück nach Seattle gefahren. Zum Schluss hielten wir dann noch einmal in einen tollen Park in Seattle um auch die Skyline bei Nacht zu sehen. Danach haben wir das Auto zurück gebracht, sind zum Flughafen und waren auch schon wieder daheim.
Im Allgemeinen weiß ich nicht ob es sich gelohnt hat nach Portland zu fahren. Da ich es aber sehr liebe zu reisen und neue Städte zu sehen war es trotzdem richtig nice!!
