I fell in love at the seaside!

Hey guys, In this post I wanna tell you all about a roadtrip along Highway Nummer 1 we made 2 and a half months ago. We started in San Francisco, stopped at Carmel, Big Sur, Santa Maria and spent the last hours in Santa Barbara. It was a nice sunny weekend with wonderful views and a lot of fun. When you have the chance to do this, you should better do it, because its worth it!

On Saturday morning three other au pairs and me started drivin along the west coast. I never drove further than Santa Cruz and didnt saw something between Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara before. As an Information for you, I already were in Santa Barbara two years ago, when I made a 5-weeks roadtrip with my family. I loved this kinda little city and was super excited to be back there. But first we stopped at Carmel By the sea. Its pretty small but cute. There is a little area to walk around, buy souvenirs and have something to eat. The beach there was okey but not the most amazing one I saw before. We spent some time there, took some pictures and then went on. Our next stop was at Big Sur, where we walked up a hill to have an amazing view over the land to the ocean. Afterwards we saw the big bixby bridge and then the Mc Way waterfall. To be honest the waterfall is really beautiful and you have a nice view but I thought its bigger and more impressive. In the evening we drove to our motel in Santa Maria and felt asleep pretty early.

On sunday morning we had a little breakfast at our motel and then drove further to Santa Barbara. As I already told you, I love it down there. It's not than big, and there aren't many things to do but it's still awesome and you'll get the real california feeling. We walked along the beach and saw the nice, tall palmtrees. There's also a little skater area where we watched some skaters like at Venice beach. Afterwards we strolled thru the shops and the paseo nueva. For lunch we had a frozen yoghurt from yoghurtland which is the best one!! Around 4 pm we went back to the car and started our way back home. It took us approximately 5 hours and I arrive at home around 10 pm. It was really a great weekendtrip and totally worth it especially when you live here in California.

In diesem Post möchte ich euch von einem roadtrip erzählen, den ich mit 3 anderen au pairs vor 2 1/2 monaten gemacht habe. Wir sind in San Francisco gestartet, haben in Carmel, Big Sur und Santa Maria gestoppt und haben noch etwas Zeit in Santa Barbara verbracht. Es war ein schönes, sonniges Wochenende mit schönen Views und viel Spaß.

Am Samstag morgen sind wir den Highway Number 1 entlang der west coast gefahren. Ich bin noch nie weiter wie Santa Cruz gefahren und habe zuvor auch noch nichts zwischen Santa Cruz und Santa Barbara gesehen. Zur Information, Ich war vor 2 Jahren schon einmal in Santa Barbara also ich einen 5-wöchigen Urlaub mit meiner Familie hier verbracht habe. Ich liebe diese etwas kleine Stadt und habe mich sehr gefreut wieder dort hin zu kommen. Als erstes haben wir aber in Carmel by the sea gestoppt und sind in diesem kleinen Dörfchen rumgelaufen. Es ist klein aber fein. Der Strand war okey aber ich hab schon schönere Strände zuvor gesehen. Wir haben dort etwas Zeit verbracht, ein paar Bilder gemacht und sind dann weiter gefahren. Unser nächstes Ziel war die Bixby Bridge und Big Sur. Dort sind wir auf einen Hügel gelaufen und hatten eine tolle Ausicht bis zum Ozean. Danach ging es weiter zu dem Mc Way Wasserfall, der nicht besonders groß aber schön war. Ehrlich gesagt hätte ich mir dort aber mehr erhofft. Am Abend sind wir dann zu unserem Motel nach Santa Maria gefahren und sind relativ früh schlafen gegangen.

Am Sonntag morgen hatten wir ein schnelles Frühstück im Motel und sind dann weiter nach Santa Barbara. Wie ich euch schon erzählt habe, gefällt mir diese Stadt sehr. Es ist nicht sehr groß und es gibt auch nicht besonders viele Dinge zu tun aber man bekommt so ein richtiges California feeling. Wir sind am Strand entlang gelaufen, haben die tollen, rießen Palmen gesehen und haben dann eine kleine Skater Area gespottet. Wir haben die Skater dort etwas beobachtet und das hat mich sehr an Venice Beach erinnert. Danach sind wir noch durch die Shops geschlendert und waren in der Paseo Nueva, welches ein kleines Einkaufszentrum ist. Zum Lunch gab es einen Frozen Yoghurt von Yoghurtland, welche die besten Froyos haben! Um ca 4 Uhr sind wir zurück zum Auto und machten uns auf den Heimweg. Es hat ca 5 Stunden gedauert und um ungefähr 10 Uhr war ich dann wieder daheim. Zusammenfassend kann ich sagen, dass es ein toller roadtrip war und man das auf jeden Fall machen sollte wenn man hier in California wohnt!
